I was raised outside of New York City. I like to say that because it seems so cosmopolitan to me. But, truthfully, I grew up in Connecticut which is an entirely separate, subdued, suburban entity. Couldn't wait to get out. And, naturally, once gone - I realized how lucky a start I'd had. Most of my family is still around there so I try to do the dreaded I-95 (as often as I can deal with it - it takes twice as long as it used to).
I went to Boston University and then moved to NY to pursue acting and improvisational comedy. Did my share of B (maybe B- or even C+) movies, cheesy commercials and stints on soap operas. And I dabbled. I was a fit model...for Halloween animal costumes. I 'wrangled' babies for a fashion photographer. Not sure which was worse.
I was married to a true born-'n-bred Irishman for many, many years and together we added 2 lovely kids to the Irish-American population. The Irishman is chagrined about the 'American' part, not quite believing his kids say 'dude' and 'fer sure.' And the American girl can't believe her kids refer to bathrobes as 'housecoats'...and slippers as 'scuffs'. The kids are characters...funny, smart, savvy and verrrry forthright...my mom said famously after a visit to my house - "Well, honey, your brood is a bit more "Osbournes" than "Ozzie and Harriet." And, as usual, Mom was absolutely right.
I've been busy since landing here. I went back to school and earned my meteorology degree - the statistics courses alone nearly killed me. I work out...sporadically. I cook...reasonably well. I play golf...remarkably poorly. I laugh a lot with my kids. And I get up at 3 AM every day to go do something I love. Sure, I'm Sleepy....but, on the bright side, it means I get to work with Dopey and Grumpy (sorry, meant to say Jimmy and Jack). A girl couldn't ask for more.
