Hockey N Heels Returns!
9:58AM Tuesday
February 19, 2013

I've been a huge Capitals fan for over five years. My love for the team began when I emceed their first HOCKEY N HEELS event a few years ago. It's an event designed for female hockey fans. I was THRILLED to emcee this year's "Hockey N Heels" again...held at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.

The event sold out in just one day...and there were 200+ women who couldn't wait to get "hands on" experience with some coaches and players.

The event was divided into five sessions. Ladies learned how to shoot the puck with Joey Crabb, Tim Hunter, Wojtek Wolski and alum Paul Mulvey in the first two on-ice sessions. Tomas Kundratek and announcer Craig Laughlin taught the ladies how to pass the puck in a third session, while Calle Johansson lead a demonstration on faceoffs during a fourth session. Attendees also had their picture taken with Jay Beagle.

After the "on ice" demonstrations were over, Strength and Conditioning Coach Mark Nemish ran the women through some team drills, while Head Equipment Manager, Brock Myles discussed equipment worn by the team in the lockeroom.

During a film session, Video Coach Brett Leonhardt taught attendees how to break down film to understand and analyze different aspects of the game as well as how he prepares the team and coaching staff for each game.

Here are some photos from the fun night!

If you're a female Caps fan, then you should definitely join SCARLET CAPS. They host a lot of fun events throughout the year.
