Like many of you, I watched the Presidential Inauguration on TV. The last time I actually ATTENDED the swearing-in ceremony was back when President Clinton was elected (I was covering it for a newstalk station). To this day, it was one of the coolest experiences of my life.
I realize that the days leading up to and during Inauguration can be stressful for locals. I know the madness and traffic congestion can be overwhelming...but I also think I'm very lucky to live in this area. As a DC native (born and raised), I think it's so cool/awesome/amazing that such a historical event takes place just a few miles from my house every four years.
Even though I was at work on Monday, I had the TV on at the radio station. I was also watching some live streams on the internet. One of my FAVORITE moments occurred when the first family was seated in the stands before the parade began. There was a "lipstick" camera that was capturing their every move. We saw the President chewing gum and checking his cell phone for messages...and we also saw his daughters, Malia and Sasha, taking photos. This moment made me laugh out loud...

I love how Malia is totally photo-bombing Sasha's effort to take a picture of their parents kissing. This image makes me smile because it makes the first family very REAL.
